- The Numberizer v1.5c - by Mark Kupferman
-
- About the Program
- -----------------
-
- This program is built up from v1.0c of the Numberizer, which was found to
- have worked successfully. It is different from 1.0c in that it is designed
- to work as part of a network event.
-
- What it does is renumber your message base, starting from whatever number
- you select. Since it will do this every night, your message base will
- always be sequencial.
-
- This program is most useful if you back up your message base every day, causing
- messages to be deleted.
-
- ShareWare Notice
- ----------------
- This program is free.
-
- If you would like to send some sort of donation towards my laserwriter fund,
- please direct any & all contributions to this address:

-
- This archive contains the following files:
- ------------------------------------------
-
- Numberizer - The application
- Numberizer.Config - Configuration file (text)
- Numberizer Docs - This documenation
-
- This program will update the following files:
-
- MSGHDR - The messages themselves
- MESSAGES - The high and low message markers
- USERLOG - Highest number read by each user
- News HiMark - Changed to match it's new counterpart.
- Seenby.bbs - Clears it except for the last record, which is changed.
-
- This should be all that is needed. This program is free. If you get some
- use out of it, please send me a message letting me know. The reason this
- program is free is because...well, it's very short and only took a little
- over an hour to write.
-
- Configuring the Numberizer
- --------------------------
-
- All of the data that the Numberizer needs is stored in a text file
- entitled 'Numberizer.Config'. This file should be in the same folder as
- the application. Here is what each line means:
-
- Line 1 - Table file path:name. This file is the location where you want
- the table to be stored. Just put the path to your host folder...
- the program will automatically delete it when it is done.
-
- Line 2 - Path:Name to MSGHDR file.
- Line 3 - Path:Name to MESSAGES file.
- Line 4 - Path:Name to USERLOG file.
- Line 5 - Path:Name to News HiMark file.
- Line 6 - Path:Name to Seenby.bbs file.
- Line 7 - Path to Red Ryder Host. Should end it a colon.
- Line 8 - Starting number for your message base.
-
- Thus, you would have a total of 8 lines of text, none of which should be
- empty.
-
- Running the Numberizer
- ----------------------
-
- Place the Numberizer and the Numberizer Config file in your RRH folder.
- Then, adjust your NetMail event so that the Numberizer is after TabbyNet,
- but before Tabby Delivermail (or Hiss).
-
- It should look like this:
-
- TabbyNet SendNews,TabbyNet SendMail,TabbyNet,Numberizer,Hiss,TabbyNet
- SendNews,(program to backup messages),Red Ryder Host
-
- Numberizer must be run BEFORE the TabbyNet Delivermail/Hiss program is
- run in order to keep the seenby file correct.
